Gerbert Bakx

  • English speaking persons who wish to have therapy in English, can ask to be seen by Dr. Bakx.

This medical doctor, philosopher and psychotherapist, member of our team, speaks Dutch, French and English and is able to offer therapy in these languages.

Dr. Bakx has for many years had an interested in the development of consciousness, of autonomy, of freedom and of personality in the various phases of life. He continues to study the structure and the anatomy of the subjective experience, more specifically of the various forms of human suffering, from phobias to addiction and depression, as well as of love and happiness, that continue to fascinate him.

This has led Dr. Bakx to develop a very personal vision and approach of suffering and happiness. He practices Ericksonian hypnosis (‘new hypnosis’) in order to promote a strategic, systemic, cognitive, symbolic and existential transformation, with a particular interest in the bodily inscription of emotions, cognitions, symbols and metaphors. Developing a spirit of freedom, compassion, enchantment, love and happiness, both in daily life and in personal and general human relations, occupies a particular place.

In this context he is particularly interested in western and eastern philosophy and spirituality and in the practice of meditation and mindfulness. Indeed, the psychotherapeutic applications of these practices, as an extension of western practices, are particularly interesting.

He published several books on the art of living.
